Job Description

The Neurodiagnostic Advanced Analyst reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Advanced LTM Analyst is independent and proficient in the performance and training of all duties and responsibilities for LTM/ICU/EMU/cEEG monitoring and may act as the physician extender in collaboration with the supervising physician and other healthcare staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Neurodiagnostic review for noninvasive and invasive EMU studies/ICU Video EEG/cortical mapping/Ambulatory EEG/routine EEG and EEG during PET/Wada/Tilt table procedures according to facility/department policy and procedures
  • Responsible for daily scanning, documentation and annotation of ictal, interictal and paroxysmal events
  • Uses accepted terminology, annotate EMU/ICU/EEG/Ambulatory recordings
  • Writes final report and detailed description of EEG patterns, seizure semiology, radiologic findings, mapping of ictal and interictal abnormalities and selection of representative EEG samples
  • All aspects of the invasive EEG implant preoperatively, intraoperatively, and post- operatively including but not limited to: electrode set-up, montage creation/verification, troubleshooting, hook-up and discontinuation, and stimulation for cortical mapping
  • Archive EEG studies, work with Nihon Kohden database, and create montages as needed, technical reports, create maps and trajectories for OR, quantitative EEG
  • Review and interpret Quantitative EEG and post processing of EEG
  • Extensive knowledge of medication and its effects on EEG waveforms and patterns is required
  • Is relied on to act as department educator
  • Maintains continuing education requirements of ABRET for CLTM* by reviewing current literature and attending continuing education meetings and seminars
  • All other related duties that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Education Coordinator to plan educational lectures/case studies/CEU courses
  • Assists with teaching EEG monitoring of fellows and residents rotating in the department
  • Develop and maintain relationships with END programs
  • Review continuous/prolonged EEGs for appropriate start and stop times in the Nihon Kohden Database and in Epic
  • Perform audits of EEG annotation and Epic documentation for quality assurance and accreditation submission
  • May be asked to do other related duties as per skill set

Additional Functions

  • Provide administrative coverage in other areas of NTC as necessary
  • Participate in departmental in-services, monthly staff meetings, and continuing education
  • Provide consistent feedback and suggestions for improvement to NTC Resource Coordinator and/or Manager, and be involved in improvement initiatives/projects.
  • Provide written and/or verbal feedback to NTC Medical Director, Coordinator and/or Manager on Neurodiagnostic Technicians and/or student preceptor's performance

Quality Management Responsibilities:

  • Participates in organizational and departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Serves as a role model for others in terms of quality of work and self-improvement.
  • Provides ideas and suggestions for process improvements within the department.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered in both through the American Board of Registration of Electroenephalographic and Evoked Potential technologists (ABRET) as an EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) and Continuous Long Term Video Monitoring (CLTM)
  • Eligible to sit for NeuroAnalyst-CLTM Exam through ABRET and month obtain within 12 months
  • At least 7 years of experience working in Neurodiagnostics
  • CPR certified in basic cardiac life support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Performance in each of the multiple modalities at the level or superior to a technologist registered in that modality
  • Associate's degree or higher

Preferred:

  • Prior work as a supervisor/lead technician
  • Bachelor’s degree or additional training in neurophysiology monitoring, business, healthcare, or related area
  • Prior work experience in an academic or tertiary health care center
