Job Description

The Solutions Engineer Associate, reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Solutions Engineer Associate is responsible for designing, developing, and operationalizing custom developed software created by Northwestern Medicine.

  • Leveraging AI, automation and rollout of advanced cyber controls that support digital transformation strategies

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to design software solutions in a team-based environment by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow (including, data usage and work processes) investigating problem areas and recognizing opportunities for improvement 
  • Participate in Agile software development from concept, design and testing 
  • Create and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and clear code with comments 
  • Stay current on development tools, programming techniques and computing equipment by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications 
  • Provide ad hoc project status, participate in meetings and conference calls 
  • Make informed decisions quickly and take ownership of services and applications at scale 
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn from senior members on the team 
  • Provide operational support and engage in testing performance of custom solutions as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • Facilitates a culture of collaborative teamwork within NMIS and on the assigned team 
    • Focuses on IS team success and promotes collaborative efforts with others 
    • Shifts easily among different technical and project roles as required by situation 
    • Adapts well to rapid change and multiple priorities 
    • Contributes to the IS Knowledge Repository 

Qualifications

Required:

  • 0-3 years of experience in software development or healthcare related field 
  • Experience or strong personal curiosity about building products to improve clinical and operational efficiency within a healthcare setting 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • Web development using the .Net Framework,.Net Core, C#,ASP.Net, Web Services (Web API),WCF,REST, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, CSS 
  • Microsoft SQL Server database design with experience in query optimization 
  • Front-end frameworks (Angular, Razor, React, etc.) 
  • MS Apps Power Platform
  • Source Control: TFS, Git, Azure DevOps 
  • Experience working in an agile environment 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific applications (e.g., Epic)
