Job Description

The Surgery Scheduler reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.
  • Selects appropriate preference card for procedure to be performed based on physician booking sheet.
  • Determines and coordinates availability of staff, rooms, and equipment in collaboration with charge nurses and managers.
  • Communicates with physicians, other departments and healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.
  • Schedules patient appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Preferred:

  • Medical terminology training.
