The Rehabilitation Aide reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Under supervision of the clinical supervisor and/or manager, assists therapists, assistants, students and all department staff in the provision of physical/occupational/speech therapy and the care and maintenance of department environment, supplies, and equipment.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES (Daily, Periodic and Occasional):

• Assist therapists, assistants, and students with physical, occupational and speech therapy treatment provision.
• Recognizes dynamic changes in population demographics, health care economics, and service delivery that necessitate improved professional preparation for the patient.
• Transfer ill, injured or disabled persons from beds, carts, chairs, or commodes and transport them to and from designated areas. Coordinate work with other areas such as Wound Care, Nursing, Radiology, EEG, EMG and Respiratory Therapy.
• Position, drape, gown and prepare patients for treatment as directed. Position patients appropriately, based on diagnosis and problem. Remove patients from treatment or equipment upon completion of session and prepare area and equipment for next patient.
• Assist therapists, assistants and students with ambulation training, transfer training, activities of daily living, exercise, machine, and modality setups.
• Maintain therapy department and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Ensure compliance with environment of care standards. Remove and/or notify supervisor of any safety hazards.
• Job duties involve direct patient contact and require constant attention to standard precautions and infection control. Handle and dispose of potentially infected material waste.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and communicate order needs, as appropriate.
• Routinely assist clerical staff with office procedures including telephone management, scheduling, registration, reception, and department opening and closing duties.
• Assist therapists by gathering information from the Hospital Information System. Help organize charts, attendance records, schedules, etc.
• Assist in training of new employees, students, and volunteers.
• Must demonstrate excellent guest relations skills and actively participate in continuous performance improvement process.
• Attend required safety education and other in-services. Keep up to date with changes and follow hospital and department procedures.
• Assure that services and environment are both customer friendly.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position is part-time, 40 hours per pay period, day shift with rotational times between 7:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, must communicate in English verbally and via reading and writing. Current CPR certification. Prior hospital experience preferred.
