Patient Population: Kidney, Liver and Pancreas Transplant Patients

Liver Transplant: The Organ Transplant Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is one of the top living donor liver transplant centers in the United States and one of only nine centers in North America who participated in a study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health to assess living donor liver transplantation. In 2021, Northwestern Hospital performed 11 living donor liver transplants, making us the largest living donor program in Illinois. Over the last ten years, Northwestern has performed 105 living donor liver transplants. Having initially described laparoscopic living donor hepatectomy, Northwestern Memorial Hospital is one of a handful of centers in the country performing this procedure. Kidney Transplant: Northwestern Medicine has the largest living donor kidney transplant program in Illinois, and one of the largest programs in the country. The role of the professional clinical nurse is unique and essential to the care of the patient. The nurse demonstrates that unique and essential function through the framework for nursing practice.

Required:

• Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing .
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
• Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association.
• Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
• Oral, listening and written communication skills.
• Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.
• Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data.

Preferred:

• Experience in specific clinical area.
• Nursing specialty certification, if eligible.
