Job Description

The  Exercise Physiologist-Cardiology reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Department:

  • Assesses patient's physiological, psychosocial and educational status and needs.
  • Identifies need for home exercise guidelines.
  • Develops and implements patient care plan considering exercise tolerance and prescription.
  • Updates the patient care plan when appropriate.
  • Educates the patient and their family regarding exercise care plan.
  • Guides staff in the prevention, recognition and management of exercise injuries.
  • Anticipates and assists others in emergency situations.
  • Serves as a resource to staff in all aspects of exercise physiology.
  • Assists with patient care during all phases of cardiac rehabilitation which includes developing exercise prescriptions and monitoring cardiac rehab sessions.
  • Provides patient assessment, education, and documents patient Individual Treatment Plans for a case load of patients with cardiovascular disease and other co-morbidities.  
  • Provides exercise leadership for Phase I inpatients and Phase II outpatients with the goal to restore optimal functional activity.
  • Assists in optimizing and tracking performance measures for American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) recertification. 

Diagnostic Cardiology Department:

  • Performs EKG testing.
  • Performs stress tests of all types including treadmill stress exercise, pharmacologic stress testing, stress component of nuclear stress testing as well as stress component of combination stress-echo.
  • Applies and instructs patients on Holter monitoring and removal, and scanning of Holter studies.
  • Applies and instructs patients regarding Event Monitoring.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Three up to five years of related work experience
