Job Description

The Technician, Instrument reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Technician, Instrument is primarily responsible for cleaning, sterilizing and packaging instruments for the various procedures performed.  This position supports the clinical staff in stocking rooms and closets and maintaining proper patient flow throughout the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Must be conscientious, industrious, precise and reliable.
  • Pay close attention to detail and have the ability to retain knowledge of the work involved, be capable of planning and assessing priorities to maintain adequate production, accept responsibility, and prefer activities of a repetitive nature.
  • Maintains proper levels of instruments and supplies needed for reprocessing.
  • Accurately maintains comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control in a sterile area.
  • Operates within the sterilization procedures.
  • Determines whether each piece of equipment that is processed is in correct working condition.
  • Determines whether processed instrumentation meets the stringent criterion for sterility and use.
  • Maintains adequate levels of reserve supplies for routine use and emergency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • 1 year of healthcare experience
  • Experience and knowledge in sterilization processes
