Job Description

The Senior Tax Analyst reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current knowledge of IRS tax regulations.
  • Compile IRS required reports (Forms 990, 1120, 990-T, etc.)
  • Compile state and local tax reporting (Forms AG990-IL, IL-990-T, IL-1120, sales and use tax, Cook County taxes, etc.)
  • Compile financial information for reporting to the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois Department of Revenue related to community benefit and property taxes.
  • Filing of unclaimed property reports with the relevant agencies.
  • Research and understand changes in the regulatory environment and the potential impact on reporting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in computer applications such as knowledge in databases, spreadsheets and word processing applications in a high complexity environment.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, adopting and implementing industry best practices, and participating in professional societies.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial and patient information confidential.
  • Support the finance operation of NM through special projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 5+ years in finance role.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Taxation or Master in Business Administration.
  • Experience in a non-profit tax role.
  • Experience in a healthcare organization.
  • Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably PeopleSoft.
