Job Description

As Northrop Realty’s Staff Accountant, you work closely with our Accounting Team to meet accuracy and timeliness standards of financial statements and reports. Your attention to detail ensures transactions are properly recorded and accounts are reconciled. You enjoy proactively contributing to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounting/Finance team to significantly reduce manual work/work arounds that may cause significant time constraints/inaccuracies or delays.

Essential Functions:

  • AP Accounting: Ensures accuracy of invoices received, including comparison to related agreements where applicable. Executes the necessary tasks to process payments to vendors (check, ACH, Wire) and identify areas of improvement in current processes such that all billings are paid in line with payment terms.
  • AR Accounting: Invoices for accounts receivable, including standard, recurring charges as well as on-demand transactions. Manages payment processing and prepares and reconciles the balance of AR for the month, quarter, and year end periods.
  • Treasury:  Reconciles cash and manage outstanding checks. Records necessary transactions in the accounting system and ensure accuracy of cash-related file feeds.
  • Month End Close:  Assists with coordination of the month end close across all departments; prepares calendars, daily status emails, recurring monthly close journal entries and accruals, various Balance Sheet and Income Statement reconciliations; furnishes monthly financial package.Other areas of responsibility:  Assists management with analysis of various accounts, agent communication, and other business duties.

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of client relationship management software; experience with Salesforce a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or management with a concentration in accounting/finance; CPA candidate preferred.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in accounting/finance
  • Real estate experience a plus.
