Driver - CDL A

Job Description

The Driver – CDL A is responsible for transporting product in addition to unloading and loading vehicles in support of the Food Bank.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A

 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understand DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and ELD tracking
  • Strong verbal and written communication as it relates to the job
  • Must be customer-centric for both internal and external customers

 

Experience:

  • One year of commercial driving experience
  • Experience with warehouse equipment (rider jack and forklift) preferred

Qualifications

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete DVIR and utilize ELD tracking
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
  • Maintain all required certifications by DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and company safety programs
  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
  • Operate manual and electric pallet jacks and forklift equipment to land and off-load freight/products up to 50+ pounds unassisted
  • Maintain accurate vehicle and equipment records and logs
  • Service equipment with fuel, oil and other needs; checks fluid levels, cleans equipment and vehicles externally and internally, replaces bulbs and filters, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
  • Effectively represent NTFB in the community, as an ambassador of our values and mission
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
