Job Description

The Enterprise Basel Team is part of the Controller’s Division of Wells Fargo. The team is responsible for producing quarterly management reports for Basel III, ICAAP/Economic Capital, Regulatory Schedules (FFIEC 101 FR Y-14Q), and other disclosures per Basel. The team is also responsible for providing responses to regulatory inquiries, studies and surveys proposed by the agencies, ad-hoc analysis for Basel/Capital initiatives, and participates in regulatory and audit reviews that include coverage of Basel related calculation and reporting. 


The responsibilities of the Analytics Consultant 4 on this team may include, but not limited to the following:

Analyze Basel III related rule requirements and perform requirements definition/implementation scope for Basel calculations and reporting.
Perform implementation planning for Basel capital calculations and reporting.
Identify and communicate data requirements and perform gap analysis for Basel data submissions.
Build capital calculation approach in highly complex capital model and computational system, working closely with technical specialists for implementation.
Analyze quarterly capital results to inform management on trends.
Support the capital infrastructure, Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications Infrastructure (OFSAAI), Essbase and OBIEE tools and related data models to develop rules and monitor compliance necessary to provide capital calculations and management reporting.
Create and manage scenarios across asset classes for implementation validation.
Query/Extract information from Oracle databases necessary for management reporting. Organize data to create reports and present it to drive decision making.
Perform complex analysis of Basel calculation outputs and perform cross checks/validations with other reports.
Present analysis to Senior Management.
Assist with responding to regulatory inquiries and completing studies and surveys proposed by the agencies.
Work with senior credit officers and business lines on a day-to-day basis to communicate implications of changing regulatory environment.
May assist other team members with analysis on financial impact of proposed strategic business initiatives.
May assist other team members with risk weighted asset forecasting, management reporting allocation analysis.
Ensures adherence to data management regulations and policies.
Responsible for very complex client/partner assignments to identify and define strategic business issues that require analyses and translates this information into insight, knowledge and understanding of the business and the industry.
Performs very complex analyses/analysis design involving data mining and predictive modeling,
regression/multivariate, financial, and/or comparative analysis.
Responsibilities also include identifying opportunities for additional statistical models and creating sophisticated computer modeling approaches to analyze and forecast business performance, participating in and/or leading information capabilities development work presenting results of analyses and recommendations to senior management.
Using multiple databases, ensures adherence to data management regulations and policies. Leads project/virtual teams and mentors lower level staff.
May directly manage 1-2 team members.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years reporting and analytical experience or a minimum of a Masters degree in programs such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics or computer sciences with 4+ years directly applicable work experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with SQL, VBA, SAS, Crystal Ball and Power Excel/Access user
Experience validating detailed analyses
Experience evaluating risk and risk management practices at large financial institutions
Familiarity with at least one of the following asset classes/areas: retail, wholesale, derivatives, repurchase agreements/margin loans, securities, and/or equities
Strong analytical, problem solving abilities and attention to detail
3 years Basel or CCAR experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Basel and/or Dodd-Frank regulations
Previous experience in FP&A, treasury, M&A, or capital markets arena
Experience with statistical methods and applications
Experience with SDLC change request, risk weighted asset allocation and reconciliation methodologies.
Proven high performer who is self-directed with outstanding written and communication and oral presentation skills
