Job Description

The primary role of each Employee Owner is to serve, grow, enhance and protect Norco business.  All Norco Employee Owners have a stake in the performance of the company and stand to benefit directly from the company’s growth and profitability.  Every Employee Owner is required to be punctual, efficient, ethical, professional in conduct, and to dress and work as part of a team with a positive attitude, with respect for coworkers and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand compensation and benefits best practices and assist the Director of Human Resources in maintaining a competitive benefits and compensation strategy.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in the administration of appropriate compensation and benefit policies, practices, and processes in compliance with state and federal laws relating to compensation and benefits.
  • Work with retirement plan vendors on all required benefit filings, such as Form 5500, census production and other requirements under the IRS and ERISA.
  •  Coordinate the annual audit of 401(k) retirement plans.
  •  Manage the company’s wellness program and related initiatives. 
  •  Assist Director of Human Resources in annual budget preparation in the areas of compensation and benefits.
  •  Develop strategic benefit communications for all levels of company employees. Regularly update benefit guides, relevant compensation and benefit information in the employee handbook, and other published compensation and benefits tools.
  • Work with third-party resources, including an employee benefits broker.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for benefits and compensation matters; stay current on trends and regulatory changes impacting employee benefits and compensation, proactively communicating changes that impact the company.
  • Administer benefits program to include plan renewals, evaluation of total benefits package and management of total benefits package, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manage the online benefits administration system.
  • Conduct appropriate training, alongside the Director of Human Resource, to include benefits enrollment training and best practices training for managers in regards to compensation management.
  • Assist with the performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the company. 
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.  
  • Responsible for managing, tracking and reporting employee compensation and benefit related costs while staying within pre-set budget.
  • Follow safe work procedures and ensure adherence to practice of safety daily.

Education or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, preferably with a focus in human resources, business administration, finance, or related field, MBA a plus
  • 3-5+ years of experience managing a self-funded health plan
  • 3+ years of experience managing a wellness program
  • Excel proficiency
  • Experience with HRIS system, preferred

License or Certificate Required:

  • PHR/SPHR or CEBS certification preferred
