Job Description

Join 9News Sydney as our next State Political Reporter for a 12 month fixed term contract and become a key voice in the state's political narrative. We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated journalist who excels at breaking news.


Day to day you will:

  • Focus primarily on political news and developments within Sydney and New South Wales.
  • Contribute to significant stories across various news categories beyond just politics.
  • Actively seek out and break exclusive news stories.
  • Dedicate time to building and maintaining a strong network of political contacts.
  • Unearth exclusive, insightful, and impactful content for broadcast and digital platforms.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven ability to generate exclusive story ideas and content.
  • Dedication to building and maintaining a strong network of contacts.
  • Excellent live reporting and interviewing skills, particularly in breaking news scenarios.
  • Outstanding writing and a deep knowledge of politics.
  • Willingness to embrace multiplatform journalism, with a track record of contributing to radio, digital, or social platforms.
