Job Description
The ServiceNow Developer focuses on learning, assisting, and developing foundational skills while contributing to the overall success of the ServiceNow platform under the guidance of ServiceNow Lead Developer.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in managing the core configuration of the ServiceNow platform.
- Support the implementation of updates, patches, and basic configuration changes under the guidance of the lead developer.
- Help maintain and develop applications within ServiceNow, including ITSM and ITOM.
- Perform routine checks and assist in troubleshooting issues within these modules. Assist in customising and developing ServiceNow applications and workflows according to business needs.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining simple scripts, UI policies, and business rules under supervision.
- Participate in platform maintenance activities, including testing and applying updates.
- Support lead developers during upgrades and ensure minimal disruption to services.
- Assist in monitoring platform performance and gathering data to help optimize operations.
- Provide input on basic adjustments to improve efficiency and user experience.
Qualifications
- Basic Knowledge of ServiceNow: Understanding of the platform’s purpose and basic functionality. Hands-on experience, even from academic projects or internships, is beneficial.
- Scripting and Programming: Ability to write and understand simple scripts, particularly in JavaScript, which is widely used in ServiceNow.
- Database Knowledge: Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL. Familiarity with how data is structured and accessed in ServiceNow.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse issues and come up with effective solutions, even with guidance.
- Troubleshooting: Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve simple platform issues or escalate them appropriately.
- Strong desire to learn new technologies and methodologies, especially within the ServiceNow platform.
- Careful attention to detail when configuring and customizing the platform to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, especially when working on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
Desirable experience & skills
- Completion of any ServiceNow certification, such as Certified System Administrator (CSA), would be a plus but is not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum: Understanding of Agile methodologies or experience working in an Agile environment.
- Exposure to ITIL: Basic understanding of ITIL principles and practices.
