Job Description

Your new opportunity at Nine.

The Lineup Producer will be responsible for preparing news content for our Nine News TV programs from the start of the day to the late news. You’ll have experience as a TV producer and love the fast pace of the control room when a big story is breaking. You’ll have a solid grasp of the news agenda, and be keen to help shape our content. We’re looking for someone who knows their news, can find their way around a rundown, and is interested in everything from politics to crime, entertainment and global news events.

This is a permanent, full-time position that will involve some shift work.

Day to day you will:

  • Lineup news bulletins and put them to air in the control room
  • Write scripts, sub copy and help choose the stories we should be covering from local to national and international
  • Liaise with Nine News reporters to produce their live content, and ensure the best video gets to air
  • Contribute to setting the agenda with ideas and find breaking news content
  • Produce stories that are accurate and legally sound with correct spelling and grammar

Qualifications

In order to be successful for this role, you will ideally have:

  • Minimum four years’ experience as a journalist, with at least some of that experience with a TV or radio newsroom
  • Experience as a producer working in a control room
  • The ability to write fast, accurate copy and meet rolling deadlines under pressure
  • Skills to identify story angles and write openers and playoffs to promote the news
  • Strong grammar and research skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude
