Job Description

  • Lead the 4BC Brisbane Technology Team of approx 4 staff.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Brisbane radio operational technical support team as well as the broader national Nine Radio technology group
  • Manage on- and offsite broadcast and IT infrastructure and systems
  • Day to day maintenance and operation of the studio complex and transmitter sites
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with applicable technical standards including the use of microwave STLs and transmitter power
  • Manage building infrastructure and essential services
  • Manage relationships between editorial and technical support teams
  • Manage broadcast system installation projects as required
  • Manage and maintain the AM transmission sites for 4BC and 4BH including electrical, RF, mechanical, security and safety systems
  • Maintain technical documentation including logs of equipment and cabling for technical work related to studios, broadcast equipment, computers and transmitters
  • Conduct equipment installation and repairs and/or engage with suppliers and vendors
  • Participate in a regular on-call roster for both studio and transmitters with some out-of-hours work when required
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Nine Technology team (locally and nationally) to provide mentoring, support and solutions for the benefit of the business

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

Formal relevant qualifications in audio engineering, electronic engineering, RF engineering, IT/networking or related technology preferred but other relevant equivalent qualifications will be considered.

Experience:

At least 8 years’ experience in a technology support role in the broadcast media industry

Experience in a people leadership role

Experience/knowledge of at least some of the following radio broadcast hardware and software systems:

Zetta, Wheatstone,Axia Audio/Telos Alliance, Factum Radioscape, Lawo Broadcast, Broadcast Bionics & Phonebox, Newsboss, Cisco Networking, Microsoft and Google admin tools, Nautel transmitters, Satellite Communications transmission equipment, Microwave RF transmission equipment, AIM Rapid, Tieline Codecs
