Job Description

Nine.com.au, Australia’s largest news, sport and entertainment network, is looking for an associate digital news producer to help drive the digital output for 9news.com.au. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the biggest news sites in Australia and would suit someone looking for their first role in the media.

We're in the business of captivating audiences through powerful storytelling and quality journalism.  With this in mind, we 're looking for someone who is energetic and innovative, passionate about news, and excited about the future of media.

Position Overview

The associate digital news producer is based out of Sydney, working alongside the digital news, video and social media teams. The role involves covering breaking news, updating developing stories and generating content ideas across all media platforms for nine.com.au and 9news.com.au. News is a 24/7 operation and weekend work will be required. You’ll also be expected to implement bet SEO best practice for all content.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will be energetic, engaged and keen to prove themselves in a busy newsroom environment.  This position will suit someone looking for their first job in media or with a year or two’s worth of experience looking to take that next step in your career.

With this in mind, some of the things we are looking for will be:

  • Demonstrated writing skills essential, with proven ability to produce clear compelling copy

  • Ability to source original news and feature stories

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar and syntax

  • Strong digital platform skills and a working understanding of all social media platforms  

  • An understanding of legal best practice, including defamation laws

  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop preferable
