Job Description

Under the direction of and upon delegation from the Director, Nursing Education Services (Nursing Programs Administrator), the Manager, Nursing Didactic Instruction provides leadership for the nursing programs’ didactic faculty; manages financial, personnel, and physical resources for nursing didactic faculty; and is accountable for the integrity of the delivery of the didactic portions of academic nursing programs. Moreover, the Manager, Nursing Didactic Instruction assures that the didactic portions of the academic nursing programs meet all regulatory and accreditation requirements; in collaboration with the Manager, Nursing Curricula, ensures that the curricula are current, prepares faculty for practice in the contemporary environment, and that the didactic and experiential portions of the curricula are well-aligned. In addition, the Manager collaborates with the Nursing Programs Administrator and its other delegates to implement the academic nursing programs’ Systematic Plans of Evaluation (SPE). The Manager collaborates with other College personnel and faculty to meet academic nursing programs’ and College’s end of program outcomes.


The Manager, Nursing Didactic Instruction is responsible for the following:


  • Collaborates in the development, maintenance, and revisions to the SPE with the Nursing Programs Administrator, DDC Area Managers, faculty, learners, and other communities of interest;
  • Collaborates with the Manager, Nursing Curricula to ensure that the nursing curricula are current, prepare learners for practice in the contemporary environment, and that the didactic and experiential portions of the curricula are well-aligned;
  • Coordinates, develops, organizes, and supervises the day-to-day operations of the nursing didactic faculty, based on established Programs’ and College policies;
  • May carry a teaching load in the academic nursing programs as needed;
  • Coordinates the schedule of classes and didactic faculty assignments;
  • Serves as the Nursing Programs Administrator’s delegate for purchasing, budgeting, hiring and evaluating nursing didactic faculty;
  • Serves on College-wide and NES committees, as assigned;
  • Participates in the preparations of annual reports, self-study reports, and coordination of site visits for programmatic accreditation with input from faculty, learners, and other communities of interest;
  • Contributes to institutional accreditation activities;
  • Responsible for didactic nursing faculty recruitment, orientation, and retention;
  • Administers the College Faculty Development and Peer Review programs as needed for the didactic nursing faculty;
  • Responsible for leading didactic nursing faculty meetings and participates in bi-annual advisory board meetings;
  • Responsible for comprehensive didactic nursing instruction records keeping;
  • Engages in local, state, and national nursing education and practice organizations;
  • Collaborates with other Managers and Directors within the College;
  • Maintains expertise in nursing education and awareness of current trends in nursing practice and healthcare; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

V.        Job Specifications

  • Graduate degree with a major in Nursing; doctorate degree preferred.
  • Active unencumbered RN license.
  • Documented knowledge and skills for faculty scheduling, supervision and evaluation (minimum 5 years’ experience preferred).
  • Ability, willingness, and availability to perform needed responsibilities throughout the three academic semesters each calendar year.
  • Curriculum, instruction and program development experience.
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary professional nursing program with relevant clinical experience.

Additional Information

The typical work environment is located at the College’s Operations Support Center. The job may also be performed via telecommuting.  The work is performed in two primary modes – at the office or remote location at a desk, using a computer, a telephone, and other means for work productivity and communication. Travel is required to DDC sites or other locations for meetings, conferences, or training purposes.  We are looking for a start date of March 25th, 2019.
