Job Description
The Vice President, Operations Management is responsible for all the respondent touchpoints and supporting processes used in conducting MRI-Simmons surveys as well as for final processing and delivery. This role helps shape the evolution, planning and execution of the strategic roadmap, including delivery of syndicated national studies and new survey products.
The VP, Operations Management implements quality and process improvements within the operations organization to enable delivery of data on schedule, reduce inefficiencies, and ultimately help ensure client satisfaction.
Additionally, they provide the necessary direction to maintain the focus and drive of a talented and diverse team. They work with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to understand goals and communicate the Operations roadmap and the results of all efforts and initiatives. And they apply technical and organizational understanding to make tough decisions and ensure accountabilities for all deliverables.
Key accountabilities:
The VP of Operations Management role is responsible for the management of data and survey operations and systems, including distribution of survey instrument/materials to respondents, respondent outreach (in-bound and outbound) as well as data collection, processing, delivery and quality assurance.
- Operations:
- Define and implement the Operations roadmap, structure & processes
- Oversee day-to-day Operations management, coordinating and monitoring the work of various departments involved in the collection, production and distribution of market research surveys and data
- Monitor operational performance in overall productivity and quality assurance; proactively identify efficiency issues and improvement opportunities
- Manage the budgeting process for Operations teams, including developing cost/benefit analyses for process improvements initiatives
- Support the Sales organization in identifying client-facing areas for improvement (accelerating data release timelines, reducing data errors/reprocessing, etc.), and be willing to present at client meetings to outline the operational aspects of corporate projects or plans
- Collaborate with Senior leadership team to contribute to the development of the overall strategic plan and provide regular operational performance updates
- Oversee data collection budgeting and forecasting
- Leadership:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and team to build and communicate the Operations improvement plans and strategy across the organization; build consensus around key initiatives and projects
- Drive an agile culture, promote innovative thinking through technical leadership and industry knowledge
- Lead a team, including work allocation, goal setting, performance management, and identifying career opportunities
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and excellence
- Mentor high-potential employees and help grow them for greater future responsibilities
- Ability to motivate and manage cross-practice teams that are not direct reports
- Build proactive relationships and partnerships with key leaders and stakeholders
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Operations management
- A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role, reporting to executive leadership
- Leadership, team building, and people-management skills
- Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate multiple complex cross-functional projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence and build consensus across a broad range of backgrounds, organizational levels, and personalities
- Experience in both agile and waterfall software development approaches
- Ability to move fast with a focus on maintaining the organization’s integrity and position in the marketplace
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning and analytical skills
- Ability to lead the cycle of problem-solving work from problem definition to analysis, recommendation, and development of implementation plans
