Job Description

We are looking for a passionate associate to join the Data Operations team at NielsenIQ as (Sr.) Data Operations Analyst (AI & Automation). We are looking for an associate who has strong hands-on experience with AI/GenAI tools, is interested in leveraging AI to drive operational excellence, and thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The role as a (Sr.) Data Operations Analyst will support our data coding and quality initiatives in the APAC Region and will be situated in our Shanghai, China office.

As a Data Operations Analyst, you will be leveraging AI-powered workflows and automation to enhance item coding accuracy, streamline data processes, and collaborate closely with both local and global teams to ensure smooth and quality project execution from data intake through delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage GenAI tools (e.g., LLMs, Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to improve data coding accuracy, automate repetitive tasks, and streamline operational processes.
  • Design, test, and refine prompts to achieve high-quality, consistent outputs in production-level coding workflows (prompt engineering).
  • Use Python, SQL, or similar tools to process, clean, and transform large-scale datasets; develop automation scripts to support daily operations.
  • Build and maintain dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and perform data analysis to track operational KPIs such as accuracy, completion rates, and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor data quality, identify root causes of errors, and propose actionable solutions to improve end-to-end process reliability.
  • Liaise with local (CN) and global team members to ensure requirements are aligned, issues are escalated, and progress is well communicated and monitored to minimize disruption or delays.
  • Adhere to strict timelines and proactively anticipate, troubleshoot, overcome and/or escalate project challenges to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time.

Our (Sr.) Data Operations Analyst drives the consistent delivery of utmost quality data through AI-powered workflows and is considered to be an expert in applying AI tools to real-world data operations. The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • AI/GenAI experience (High Priority) — Hands-on experience using AI/GenAI tools in a work setting, including but not limited to prompt engineering, AI-assisted coding (vibe coding), or AI-driven data processing. Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI to boost productivity and output quality.
  • Excellent English language skills — including oral and written communication
  • Attention to detail — high accuracy and thoroughness when working with large-scale datasets
  • Critical thinking & problem-solving skills
  • Openness and flexibility to change
  • Be curious and open-minded: Keen interest to learn and adapt new technology and platforms
  • Organizational and time-management skills — the ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal skills — comfortable collaborating across teams and time zones
  • Flexible working hours (within reason) to help coordinate with other regions

Qualification

  • Candidate must possess at least a University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related fields (other fields also welcome)
  • Good knowledge of Python and/or SQL for data processing, scripting, and automation
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g., Excel (pivot table, vlookup) and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI is a plus
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • An effective communicator with good presentation skills
  • Familiarity with data operations, item coding, or FMCG/retail data environments is a plus
