About This Job
The Coder – Reference Data role is part of the Reference Data (RD) team, specializing in product reference management within the FMCG industry. The role is responsible for translating product information from retailer POS descriptions into NielsenIQ standard item classifications, based on detailed product specifications.
As a key contributor to item-level data accuracy, the Coder plays a critical role in ensuring reliable and consistent product information, which forms the foundation for accurate item performance analysis. This position requires close collaboration across operational divisions while also being able to work independently on cross‑coding and execution tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and classify products into Nielsen Audit items or non‑audit items
- Execute cross‑coding reference activities and product identification independently
- Deliver accurate and complete item coding specifications
- Review and validate data errors and inconsistencies in attribute code mappings
- Take full ownership of assigned coding processes, working efficiently and decisively
- Collaborate effectively with Operations and Commercial teams
- Independently address internal stakeholder queries related to product item mapping
- Drive time and cost efficiency in product item creation
- Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities to enhance data quality
- Act as a role model by supporting and inspiring peers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable university with a minimum GPA of 3.00
- Good understanding of Fast‑Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products, including:
- Pharmaceuticals
- Food & Beverage
- Personal Care
- Home Care
- Cigarettes
- Ability to work independently in a digitally enabled environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical specifications clearly and simply
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and common communication tools
