Job Description

NIQ is looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our Financial Services Engineering team.

At NIQ, the Financial Services team uses alternative datasets to help global public equity investors (hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds) make better investment decisions. We work with some of the largest hedge funds in the world. As a Test Engineer, you will be at the cutting edge of the alternative data space where you will help maintain and improve our data infrastructure, which enables us to develop market research products and delivery data to our customers. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to understand requirements and translate them into effective test strategies
  • Create and maintain automated test suites for Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs
  • Validate React UI components, user flows, and integrations with backend services
  • Test relational and NoSQL data workflows (Postgres, Mongo) to ensure data correctness
  • Develop and maintain API functional tests using tools like Postman, Karate, or REST Assured
  • Develop UI automation using Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or similar tools
  • Participate in code reviews from a testing/quality perspective
  • Perform manual exploratory testing where needed to uncover edge cases
  • Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating quality gates and automated tests
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack and assist in root-cause analysis
  • Identify gaps in testing and proactively improve automation and QA processes
  • Ensure performance, scalability, and security testing practices for services and UI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 3–6 years of testing experience in modern web-application environments
  • Hands-on experience testing Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs
  • Experience validating React front-end applications
  • Strong fundamentals in test automation best practices
  • Proficiency in at least one test automation language (Java, JavaScript, or Python)
  • Experience with API automation frameworks (REST Assured, Postman/Newman, Karate, etc.)
  • Experience with UI automation (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, etc.)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience validating data flows
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-have

  • Experience testing Snowflake or cloud data platforms
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Locust, Gatling)
  • Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
