Senior Software Engineer (PHP, React, JavaScript, SQL)
- Full-time
- Career Site Team: Operations
Job Description
We’re looking for a hands‑on Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and scale data‑driven products. You’ll own end‑to‑end delivery—architecture, coding, performance optimization, and operational readiness—while mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards across backend (PHP), frontend (JavaScript), and data (SQL).
What You’ll Do
- Solution Architecture
- Own service and UI architecture for high‑throughput, low‑latency applications.
- Define modular boundaries, data models, integration contracts, and security controls.
- Backend Engineering (PHP)
- Build secure, maintainable services using PHP (Laravel/Symfony or equivalent).
- Implement RESTful APIs, background jobs/queues, caching, and robust authentication/authorization (OAuth2/JWT).
- Profile and optimize runtime performance and container images.
- Frontend Engineering (JavaScript)
- Develop rich, accessible UIs using React (preferred) or Angular/Vue.
- Establish reusable component libraries, state management, and client‑side performance budgets.
- Integrate telemetry and feature flags for safe incremental delivery.
- Data & SQL
- Design normalized schemas with pragmatic denormalization for reporting.
- Write performant SQL (queries, views, stored procedures); tune indexes and query plans.
- Implement migration scripts, ETL helpers, and enforce data quality guardrails.
- Quality, Security & Reliability
- Champion TDD/BDD, rigorous code reviews, static analysis, and secure coding (OWASP).
- Own CI/CD pipelines (build, test, scan, deploy) and rollout strategies (blue/green, canary).
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces; define SLOs and error budgets.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor engineers; lead design reviews and pairing.
- Partner with Product/Design/Data to turn requirements into executable plans.
- Lead technical spikes/POCs and influence the roadmap with data‑driven proposals.
Qualifications
- Backend: Strong professional experience building enterprise services in PHP using Laravel/Symfony (or equivalent).
- Frontend: Advanced JavaScript with a modern framework (React preferred; Angular/Vue acceptable).
- Data: Deep SQL proficiency (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server), including indexing strategy, query‑plan optimization, and transaction semantics.
- Integration & APIs: REST/JSON; webhook design and idempotency. (GraphQL/gRPC familiarity is a plus.)
- Testing & CI/CD: PHPUnit; GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins; Docker‑based builds.
- Cloud & Runtime: Deployments on Azure; Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes fundamentals.
- Security & Compliance: OAuth2/JWT, secrets management, least‑privilege design, vulnerability remediation.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership.
Advantage Language (Nice to Have)
- Java (Advantage Language):
- Practical experience in Java (language fundamentals, collections, concurrency, JVM performance).
- Comfort with common Java build/test tools (Maven/Gradle, JUnit).
- Exposure to microservice patterns is a plus (framework‑agnostic; Spring Boot).
