Job Description
Purpose of the Role
The Senior GIS Analyst updates and expands GfK’s archive of global administrative and postal vector boundaries. These digital maps enable our clients to plan and manage their strategies for the development of the market more effectively. There are high requirements for correctness and accuracy of the boundaries while at the same time keeping the given deadlines for the preparation of the digital projects.
Key Activities
Searching, compiling and comparing source data (geodata and tabular data)
Updating the existing boundaries based on the researched source data
Checking the opportunity to add new (more granular) administrative or postal levels
Following the pre-set rules for execution and accuracy during the preparation of the maps
Preparing assigned digital projects while meeting quality standards and complying with deadlines
Manually digitizing the administrative or postal borders of countries
Closing cooperation and support of the cartographic team at the Head Office
Participation in the performance of quality control and finalization of the product
General:
Actively participates in all training courses organized by the company.
Informs his/her direct manager of all system disturbances that may have a negative impact upon the working process and the results achievement.
Provides regular feedback to his/her manager or the department manager about the on-going projects.
Completes the tasks given by his/her manager according to the professional training, knowledge, and experience.
Administrative:
Completes his/her daily activity in a time-tracking system.
Performs all other activities related with the direct execution of the working process and the tasks of the team, department, and organization, caused by the specifics of the job or the assigned projects/tasks.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills (fluent in Bulgarian and English)
Technical Skills
Knowledge of geoprocessing routines
Perseverance and tenacity to find the most suitable source data during web research.
Computer literacy – working with MS Office (mostly Excel and / or Access)
Knowledge of a common scripting language (e.g. Python, SQL, VBA) – advantage
Typical Education and Work Experience required
University degree, preferably in Geography, Cartography, GIS/Geomatics/Geoinformatics or other related specialties
Professional experience in using QGIS (preferably) or ArcGIS
Professional experience in map digitizing
Experience in automating repetitive processes - advantage
Knowledge of a second foreign language (preferably German) - advantage
