As a User Experience Researcher for NielsenIQ, you will shape the future of business intelligence. You’ll uncover new problem spaces, spark ideas, and identify opportunities to craft innovative, high-impact experiences in our data analytics products.
You will champion the customer's needs within the business, collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and technology partners across multiple product verticals to explore complex challenges. Within the organization, you will belong to our small-but-mighty global UX Research team driving impactful, user-focused research that informs product strategy.
Your mission: bridge user needs and product goals. Through a special focus on qualitative research interviews, you’ll uncover untapped opportunities, flag unknown problems, and put hypotheses and assumptions to the test. You will distill findings into clear, actionable insights that ensure we deliver solutions that address unmet customer needs while aligning with business goals.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Conduct end-to-end research using both qualitative and quantitative methods—planning, executing, and synthesizing findings to support product and design decisions
- Engage cross-functional stakeholders to align on research needs and define projects with clear goals, hypotheses, recruiting characteristics, methods to be used, and expected impact
- Interview external clients and internal subject matter experts regularly, with a focus on interviewing high-stakes clients in the U.S.
- Analyze, synthesize, and interpret study findings into key insights to be delivered to cross-disciplinary stakeholders in clear, concise, and compelling ways
- Independently but collaboratively deliver research outputs like reports, presentations, insights documentation, and the expected impact on the product
- Deeply understand our business model and objectives, continuously balancing the tension between company priorities and user needs
- Drive exploratory and evaluative discovery research, from hypothesis generation to defining objectives and uncovering unbiased, meaningful insights
- Assist the Product and Design teams in making decisions that best serve both business and user needs; keep teams focused on specific goals through research objectives
- Continuously refine research methods and findings through iterative processes, driving agility and maintaining focus on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions across the NielsenIQ ecosystem
Qualifications
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of UX research experience
- Portfolio or examples of 2-3 research use cases, including customer journey maps (information can redacted if necessary, we are most interested in your process and methodologies)
- Outstanding communication skills in both written and spoken Business English, with a demonstrated ability to convey research findings and recommendations confidently to diverse audiences, including executives, product managers, designers, and engineers; ability to tailor your communication style to maximize impact and understanding
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple partner stakeholders across various functions; ability to collaborate with different disciplines and include them into your process
- Intellectual curiosity about complex data products and a strong grasp of design thinking for user-centered problem solving
- Experience in leading research projects independently
- Experience with repository tools like Dovetail, GreatQuestion and analytics tools like Amplitude, Qualtrics, Hotjar
- A deep empathy for users and a strong user-first approach, coupled with a practical understanding of business goals and the ability to balance user needs with business objectives.
Preferred (not required):
- Experience in industries with complex ecosystems (e.g., B2B SAAS, fintech, healthcare, supply chain etc).
- Experience conducting international or cross-cultural research to inform global product strategies.
