Title: Manager, Legal

Location: Mumbai, India (onsite 2-3 days a week and rest hybrid) 

Nielsen IQ India seeks to hire a talented, enthusiastic and business-oriented lawyer to join the Legal Department as Manager.  The successful candidate will primarily work on client and vendor agreements relating to data, software, technology, and custom analytics services at the forefront of the evolving retail and manufacturer landscape, as well as providing general legal support and counsel for the Businesses especially hub operations.   

The ideal candidate is eager to roll up their sleeves and creatively solve problems and is someone who thrives in a dynamic and versatile environment with frequently shifting priorities. The candidate will work in a collaborative culture and with a dynamic team to enable the growth of the Business and Hubs.   

Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following and Others as Assigned:  

  • Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts, including license agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, data license agreements with customers and vendors, RFP responses and supporting documents;   
  • Support the team in addressing labor and employment related queries and matters for the HR team and be the point of contact for Hubs HR and Business teams on various people related issues with legal overplay;  
  • Support other legal team members and coordinate with other functional groups (Finance, Security, IT, HR, Tax) in complex commercial contracting matters;  
  • With the rapid expansion in India, have a strong external and risk mindset on new laws and impact on our commercial and Hub operations etc.  
  • Provide practical and solution oriented legal advice to internal business teams, providing information on legal issues (and appropriate risk assessment of such issues), company policies and procedures;  
  • Support business in all legal matters that arise from time to time, including policy creation and enforcement, dispute resolution, and litigation support for the team if it arises;  
  • Be a strong enabler and support legal team in implementation of strategy and growth initiatives for commercial operations and hubs.  

Qualifications

  • Qualified Lawyer/LLB   
  • 5-7 years of work experience (experience at a law firm and/or in-house is preferred;  
  • Ability to draft and negotiate commercial agreements with great attention to detail;  
  • Experience in handling employment matters, litigations and labor advise;   
  • Demonstrated ability to think and decide quickly, and to communicate legal issues and solutions clearly and concisely to lawyers and non-lawyers alike;  
  • Understanding of the need for responsiveness and an eagerness to work directly with internal business partners to answer questions and give guidance as needed;  
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a remote environment, within a globally distributed team and a fast-paced business environment.
