Global Payroll Operational Excellence Lead

At NielsenIQ, it is important for us to be connected in many ways.  As part of the Global Payroll Center of Excellence, the Global Payroll Operational Excellence Lead / Manager will play a critical role in improving and controlling Payroll Services across multiple Regions delivered on both In House and Outsourced Payroll solutions. This incumbent will work cross-functionally with HR and other internal and external Stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely salaries of associates, whilst also building scalable processes and executing continuous improvements.  The role reports directly to the VP Head of Global Payroll and will lead and manage multiple payroll team members, supporting delivery of global payroll to 40,000 associates in over 80 countries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
 

  • Ensure the payroll budget is controlled, including invoice review and approval and tracking and monitoring of costs.
  • Play a vital role in designing short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and in optimizing systems.
  • Development and execution of payroll strategies, planning, and communications; establish and maintain departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Manage relationships, contracts and service level agreements with outsourced payroll vendors ensuring value for money is achieved.
  • Identify, recommend, and champion process improvements to the current payroll process and systems.
  • Production of payroll KPIs and metrics
  • Design, implement and perform SOX compliant controls relevant to the payroll process.
  • Lead, coach and provide development to Payroll team members to optimize operational excellence and build a deeper bench of talent.
  • Manage internal and external audit and tax-related activities, including preparation of data and evidence, and ensure any identified changes are executed.
  • Build positive relationships to ensure successful collaborations with internal stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study; professional Payroll certification preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of project/transformation/continuous improvement experience in a Global organisation.
  • Experience scaling systems and procedures for a fast-growing global organization, with a proven record of successful project management.
  • Attention to detail, professional awareness, and sense of urgency for employee questions; be able to spot errors or exceptions quickly.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communicator, collaborator, and relationship builder
  • A people leader with experience of developing high performing teams based remotely.
  • English language essential and other languages highly desirable
