Job Description

The Director of Consumer Insights (Quantitative) is a key leadership position within the NielsenIQ Pacific Consumer Insights business, leading a commercial team and managing overall ownership of client delivery and relationships. This role is also jointly responsible for management of the P&L for this business unit. 

We are looking for an energetic forward thinking and team focused leader who ideally has research consultancy experience with both commercial and government clients. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team with the primary responsibility of expanding the scope of influence with key clients across a wider range of products/services and greater depth of involvement 
  • Further foster strategic clients’ relationship with plans to cross sell or introducing new services, with aim to provide impactful solution to clients’ business issues. 
  • Lead key RFPs and proposal briefs, developing others in the team in writing winning proposals 
  • Provide ideas and thoughtful insights into new ideas and initiatives for clients, showing competency in Thought Leadership 
  • Accountability for the team financial KPI (revenue and margin commitment); continuous monitoring of actual versus budgeted performance 
  • Review and finalized draft designs (ie proposals, tools, analytic plans, reports, workshops) prepared by team members  
  • Actively drive issue-based analyses, deliver proactive insights, and build effective analytical presentations and consultative story telling to clients through insightful and actionable recommendations 
  • Develop and deliver workshops, thought leadership and other client facing deliverables as appropriate  
  • Effective team leadership 
  • Team resource management leading to on time delivery & meeting quality expectations  
  • Manage and cultivate client-centric team 
  • Assess, manage and develop talents 
  • Active engagement in driving team spirit 
  • Help drive company initiatives and reinforce key message 
  • Effectively manage Nielsen business processes relative to revenue and expense management 
  • Take lead and drive regular review/revisions of systems and procedures with the end goal of improving productivity and cost efficiency in the department 
  • Perform other related functions that may be assigned 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary educated. 
  • 10+ years related experience in Market Research agency. 
  • Experience in managing a team in a consultancy research environment 
  • Deep marketing research design and execution experience, ideally in both business and government sector 
  • Previous P&L responsibility 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in translating data into an attractive, meaningful and actionable report presentation (PowerPoint and experimentation with other visual deliverables desirable

Remote-hybrid based role, must be physically located within New Zealand and candidate must be a Country/Region Resident.
