Job Description

The Tax Global Process Owner at NIQ will spearhead our endeavors in centralizing and streamlining our income tax and indirect tax processes within our Global Finance Operations Center. This strategic role is tasked with supporting the execution of transferring income tax and indirect tax activities to our centralized location, ensuring that these processes comply with legal standards, operate with maximum efficiency, and align with our global tax strategy. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Income Tax Lead and Indirect Tax Lead in Global Finance Operations team to facilitate this transition and to drive continual process enhancements. This pivotal position reports directly to the Finance Operations Leader and plays a key role in optimizing our tax operations on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Lead the strategic planning and execution for the centralization of income tax and indirect tax processes to the Finance Operations Center.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in the tax domain and implement solutions that enhance accuracy and compliance while reducing operational costs.
  • Compliance and Alignment: Ensure all tax processes comply with international tax laws and regulations, and align with NIQ’s global tax strategies and standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Income Tax and Indirect Tax Leads in Finance Operations to coordinate the transition of tax activities to a centralized location and to ensure seamless operational continuity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders across finance and operations to ensure transparency, gather support, and align tax process optimization efforts with broader business objectives.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular updates to Finance Operations Leadership on the progress of transition activities, including challenges, successes, and strategic recommendations for ongoing process improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop teams within the Finance Operations to build expertise in tax processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or related field. A professional certification (CPA, CA, CTA) in taxation is required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in tax management, with a proven track record in process optimization and project management within a global organization. Experience in finance operations in centralized locations environment is preferred.
  • Tax Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of international tax regulations, income tax, and indirect tax processes, with the ability to strategize and implement effective tax solutions.
  • Tax Technology: Utilize knowledge and exposure to tax technology solutions (e.g.,  OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Indirect Tax Determination, Vertex) and other automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, PowerBI) to enhance automation, accuracy, and efficiency within income tax and indirect tax processes.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the capability to lead complex projects and transition initiatives in a global setting.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, driving operational excellence and process innovation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Advanced analytical skills, with a keen eye for identifying process inefficiencies and the creativity to solve complex problems effectively.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing tax laws and business requirements, and to manage challenges resiliently in a dynamic global business environment.
