Objective of Role:

The Analyst, Price & Assortment Analytics will develop and implement advanced analytic techniques to gain adept understanding of customer behaviors in order to help consult, and guide Fortune 100 Client Mid & Senior-Executive teams to support their core strategic business objectives. This will be accomplished through the analysts ability to synthesize complex analytics into a well structured, and communicated strategy insight for client teams. The recommendations made will support marketing strategy development, execution, merchandising/category planning, price modeling, ad hoc strategic & tactical client requests, etc. with core focus being influencing customer strategy that will directly impact the clients Customers.

Summary of Role:

The role will report to the VP, of Data Science and is an integral part of the Client Consulting and Analytical Team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow within the role and progress toward future career development objectives along a number of potential paths including a focus on deeper analyses and statistical modeling development, client relationship management, and/or marketing. This role is key to ensuring that NielsenIQ delivers products/services and solutions that meet clients needs for the tactics that increase sales and profits and in an on-time budget capacity which support client results and satisfaction and revenue through retention/growth.that meet clients needs for the tactics that increase sales and profits and in an on-time budget capacity which support client results and satisfaction and revenue through retention/growth.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work to implement and entrench analytical methodologies that enable more profitable product, pricing, assortment and promotion decisions in support of partner customer strategies. As well focus on analytics to prioritize recommendations across retail practices.
  • Support the development of incremental customer analyses and merchandising opportunities for strategic partners and clients, including leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Interpret, document and present/communicate data-driven retail insights to multiple business disciplines, providing conclusions and recommendations based off customer-centric data.
  • Manage analytical objectives from setting data requirements to structuring and executing the backend analysis and reporting.
  • Use and ensure entrenchment of NIQ RA Solution Tool Set through cadenced review w/client

Specialized Skill & Knowledge Requirements

  • Demonstrated curiosity initiative and passion for the application of statistical sciences to address business challenges and learning of new statistical/analytical methods.
  • Ability to think outside the box, and use – “First Principles” approach to problem solving.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
  • Strong Foundation in Data Mining Languages, Data Processing, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Architectures, Analytics, and Business Strategy·
  • Experience analyzing customer level and/or item level data
  • Retail/Omni Experience – Able to understand retail/Omni environment, and how to approach retail business problems with correct analytics approach to influence strategy, and implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to ability to work in abstract data sets, and formulate structured processing techniques to ensure analytic integrity.
  • Willingness to learn, and develop in areas of weakness – takes initiative to develop in areas where gaps of knowledge, experience, or technical approaches may be known.
  • Task oriented – can manage workload effectively w/autonomy and achieve client deliverables.

Decision Making Authority

Most strategic decisions will be guided by the manager. The expectation is that the person in role will grow to take proper ownership, accountability of structuring data extracts, preparing analytical tools and delivering analyses that will be further used by business partners. Translate data into actionable insights & make strategic recommendations w/Autonomy once management sees they are at appropriate level.

Minimum Requirments

  • 1-2 Years Experience in SQL
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Data Processing & Arch
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Azure Environments
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Python/R
  • 1-2 Years Experience in MS Office Suite
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Statistics
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Retail/Omni Analytics

Degree Specializations: Bachelors in Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering/Computer Science or Information Systems/Economics/Data Science

Preferred Requirments

  • 1-2 Years Experience in Price Modeling & Techniques
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Assortment Modeling & Techniques
  • 1-2 Years Experience in Market Mix Modeling
  • 3-4 Years Experience in SQL
  • 3-4 Years Experience in Data Processing & Arch
  • 3-4 Years Experience in Azure Environments
  • 3-4 Years Experience in Python/R
  • 3-4 Years Experience in MS Office Suite
  • 3-4 Years Experience in Statistics
  • 3-4 Years Experience in Retail/Omni Analytics
