Consumer Research Manager - Stockport (Hybrid)

About this job

CGA’s Consumer Research Managers set up and manage both qualitative and quantitative consumer research projects, enabling the team to unlock best-in-class consumer insight and uncover the key trends influencing the market and our client’s businesses.

Working closely with CGA’s client teams to understand client objectives and research goals, the Consumer Research Manager designs research solutions that meet the client’s brief and analyses the results to produce relevant insight and recommendations.

Demonstrating strong commercial awareness, the CRM supports teams to generate new business and capitalise on opportunities for consumer research by identifying best practice techniques to answer research questions posed.

The Customer Research Manager is responsible of their line reports and supports the Consumer Research team to develop skills and understanding of various research methodologies. The CRM follow best practices to ensure teams' delivery and high-quality insights across the projects and product set.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Fully understands different qualitative and quantitative research methods available & pro-activity learns more about different research techniques to inform new projects and methodologies
  • Manage research projects from scoping through to completion, working with client-facing teams and other members of the consumer team to ensure that work is completed on time and to the highest standard
  • Design, set up and lead quantitative and qualitative research methodologies (inc. questionnaire and discussion guide writing)
  • Work with partners to conduct depth interviews & moderate focus groups
  • Work with and manage research partners to deliver samples and elements of research projects
  • Support and mentor junior team members to script surveys accurately using CGA’s chosen scripting tools
  • Design efficient research projects including those with multi-stage sample design, response rates and sample size calculations to specify a sample design that meets the research brief
  • High-level management of third-party relationships, including online panel providers, field & recruitment providers
  • Ensure the smooth running of all projects; do this effectively to meet all required deadlines, making sure all quality procedures are adhered to, abiding by MRS Code of Practice

Analysis & Presentation Creation

  • Ensure clarity of client briefs ahead of embarking on work
  • Responsible for planning analysis and presentations and working with junior team members to extract all data required for analysis or briefs
  • Analyse data, identifying key trends to provide clients with actionable results from their projects in line with research objectives
  • Implement market knowledge to plan analyses, accurately interpret data and apply the relevant context within findings and recommendations.
  • Construct brief relevant & attractive presentations that provide clear direction to clients, ensuring that work is completed to the expected level and timescales
  • Consistently tell a relevant story using research findings and market/client context, working with junior team members to develop storyboards for research that will effectively answer research questions
  • Work with client and CGA client teams to deliver within project timeframes and to meet brief objectives, including quality-checking outputs
  • Support client teams in the delivery of presentations on consumer research projects

Client Management & Commercial

  • Work with client-facing teams to propose, pitch & win consumer projects/contracts
  • Responsible for building great relationships with assigned key contacts, increasing CGA’s research profile both internally and externally
  • Responsible for delivering excellent customer service at all times
  • Confidently handle research requests and queries from client teams, managing expectations around timings and communicating these effectively
  • Clearly communicate the features & benefits of consumer research, incorporating these into client-facing materials
  • Proactive in sharing interesting trends or insights identified either in trade, in the press, or from wider CGA work, to enhance client deliveries and proactively uncover revenue opportunities
  • Support in driving the long-term growth of CGA’s global consumer services by identifying new consumer techniques, services or service developments to take to market
  • Proactively build an understanding of client businesses through personal reading/research & team discussions
  • Showcase commercial awareness & understanding of CGA’s client portfolio & importance of revenue generation to CGA business
  • Manage supplier costs effectively, negotiating acceptable costs & contract agreements with suppliers
  • Manage research budget effectively, ensuring work is profitable

People Management

  • Responsible for own weekly resourcing, and resourcing of line-managed reports, communicating effectively with line manager and wider consumer team to ensure time available to meet all client needs
  • Successfully manage those who report to the role, working with senior team members to review development plans
  • Committed to continuous support for assigned team members
  • Hold regular one-to-ones and touchpoints with assigned team members
  • Provide regular progress updates on all deliveries to relevant stakeholders
  • Line manage, coach and mentor more junior members of the team and guide them with the tasks they conduct while encouraging the development
  • Demonstrate great leadership amongst peer groups as well as within own team
  • Ensure development plans and feedback are being worked through by line reports, with the support of SCRM/CRD
  • Support & up-skill colleagues through knowledge shares & training
