About this Job:

Our NielsenIQ Technology teams are working on revamping multiple platform, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on NielsenIQ’s data and insights to innovate and grow.  

Rationale:

As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. Right now our CDAR platform is concentrating on application convergence with latest backend services with Spring boot technologies and leverage Jenkins to support things like CI/CD and integrations. Java 8 is primarily used to extend platform features along with continuing to adopt the best in class cloud-native, cloud-agnostic technologies. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chicago, Madrid, Toronto, Chennai and Pune  

 Responsibilities:

• Hands-on experience with Oracle, Postgres & MongoDB databases.
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
• Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
• Manage database access & performance tuning of database systems.
• Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
• Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
• Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Knowledge in Real Application Cluster (RAC), Dataguard & ASM/Storage areas
• Experience with clustering technologies from different vendors
• Backup and Recovery, RMAN, knowledge of various restore and recovery scenarios.
• Fine-tune configurations – MongoDB and servers for performance improvement.
• Implement optimal backup and recovery.
• Understand and optimize query performance.
• Create and publish database health checks to monitoring systems for Identify slow queries, Memory usage, Locks etc..
• Implementing best practices for backups, replication, and health checks.
• Design and implement DR plans & HA solutions and recommendations.
• Familiar with cloud implementations of DB as a Service.
• Familiar with huge data sets of data migration from one sever to other/On-premises to cloud etc..
• Provide recommendations on data migration from one DB to other (Oracle to PG migration etc..)
