About the team
At NielsenIQ, the Retail Intelligence team simplifies and streamlines collaboration between retailers and suppliers by providing a joint set of tools through a shared platform. The team uses diverse data sources, visualizations and tools to provide clear and actionable analysis for our clients. Keeping our clients’ perspectives top of mind, the team delivers mutual growth through quick, accurate and consistent insights. Critical to the success of this role is maintaining a client service orientation, achieved through effective management of day-to-day client interactions as well as reporting of assigned research projects.

About the role - Consumer Insights Intern (Data Science)

What you will be doing:

  • Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
  • Program and test programs to check if the output matches the user requirements
  • Undertaking data collection, preprocessing and analysis of structured and unstructured data
  • Presenting information using data visualization techniques
  • Interact and collaborate with key stakeholders in working towards departmental goals
  • Research, analyze, present results, and recommend intelligent solutions to solve problems and address business challenges by applying a knowledge of data analysis

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Background in any related field of study such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics
  • Strong command and fluency in English – spoken and written 
  • Good interpersonal skills - communication, team player
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, strong math skills (e.g., statistics, algebra) & good problem-solving aptitude 
  • Willingness to learn, hands on, technical & analytical mindset 
  • Proactive with a self starter mentality - drive workflow automation and enhancement 
  • Able to prioritize own workload 
  • Must be proficient in Python, Tableau, SQL, R and Excel
  • VBA/macro knowledge would be an added advantage
