This is a key asset for our business. In order to keep innovating in the technology area, we are now establishing three Global Technology Centres: US, India, and Portugal. The new European Technology Centre in Portugal has a mission to be part of the global team that develops our core technology solutions, but it is also in a great location to support our NielsenIQ European business.

Our Team

The new team in Portugal will grow to have all the necessary sub-teams to fully work on product development, which includes: three different software engineering teams, one quality assurance automation team, and 1 DevOps team. This is where we need your help. We are looking for talented individuals who would like to help us build and be part of this engineering team in Portugal.

What you will do:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will build and deploy pipelines, collaborate with other DevOps Engineers, Development teams , Product Owners & Scrum Masters to realize critical business goals.

  • Contribute towards the DevOps roadmap and strategy for the adoption of cloud technologies and the scripting of Infrastructure as Code.
  • Contribute towards developing the strategy and capability for deploying infrastructure, application code, and both functional and security testing via pipelines, with the goal of moving towards a continuous integration/continuous deployment model.
  • Contribute to the IT groups continuing evolution of the environment strategy and Agile policies and processes.
  • To own the day-to-day tasks of deployment to both non-production and production environments using Azure DevOps, and to assist in creating, maintaining the tools and processes involved.
  • Lead the release flow from development through to production and help manage the environments using CI/CD tools and methodologies.
  • Support non-production refresh activity and production releases of new features and products.
  • Maintain the legacy deployment and source control solutions Bitbucket & Bamboo until end of life.
  • Contribution to the development of new ideas for products and services.
  • Provide 3rd line technical support of multiple non-production and production environments. 

Qualifications & Role Requirements (Essential)

  • A background in Software Development and familiarity with the Microsoft stack, including .NET (C#, Core), Java, and SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with continuous delivery tools sets and frameworks such as Azure DevOps.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure including virtual networking, PAAS and IAAS solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills, including an ability to lead, motivate and develop your peers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate within the team and the wider organisation
  • Ability to assess business needs, then shape, evolve and drive the DevOps organisation, ensuring strong employee engagement, performance measurement, clear career development, succession planning and retention
  • Full understanding of Agile Development methodologies, driving and supporting business collaboration, understanding and adoption.
  • Ability to automate system configuration and management using scripts and configuration management tools such as PowerShell, Ansible and Terraform.
  • Highly organised - ability to plan, track and report all aspects of the DevOps responsibilities and commitments.
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.
