DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·        Coordinate with internal and external partners including FP&A, Internal Audit, External Audit, Corporate Accounting, IT, Tax and Legal

  • Liaises with auditors, lawyers and tax advisors to ensure effective local compliance

·        Assists in the annual external audit

·        Lead and drive the month end/quarter end/year end close process

·        Provide guidance regarding accounting policy, including input to the Accounting Policy taskforce

·        Oversee and maintain the internal control environment for North America

·        Member of the Canada pension committee providing accounting guidance, overseeing the preparation of audited financial statements and the review and sign off of governance documents.

·        Work with tax department and controllership team on the timely inputs for submission of tax filings

·        Identify process improvement and/or automation opportunities and implement solutions that improve timeliness and accuracy of financial transactions

·        Serve as a key resource for special projects including M&A with the ability to both lead as well as provide meaningful contributions as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA preferred, not required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience, preferably in a large global company
  • Experience with HFM and SAP preferred
  • Microsoft Office

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-change environment required

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally (phone, one-on-one) and in writing (email, letters, reports, other correspondence) to varying external and internal contacts at varying levels
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and training staff
  • Intellectually curious and analytically strong
  • Progressive thinking skills and the ability to think and act independently
  • Change management
