About the job 

As an intern with the geospatial COE team here at Nielseniq, one will be responsible to promptly execute any GIS task assigned to him/her.  One has to be quick at learning new technologies and adaptive enough to negotiate challenges with dedication and dexterity. The role will require the individual to understand the exact requirements of the task and be able to operate the functions and platforms necessary in order to accurately deliver the task within the specified timelines. As an intern though he/she will be have guidance from fellow associates to some extent but it is expected of the individual to put in the necessary efforts to learn the processes and gain enough confidence to execute the process necessary and deliver the output by themselves. 

As an intern the individual will gain key knowhow of various solutions and how various part of a solutions are processed and how they are synced in the end to form the final deliveries. Working in specialized teams also acts as an advantage as they provide an insight to how solutions are resolved in real time projects and how critical challenges are navigated through. An iconic part of working in Nielseniq is the exposure that one gets at the inside workings of an MNC with a massive global footprint and to be able to exchange ideas and develop oneself through synergy with various teams across the globe. 

Please note it's a remote working opportunity, the internship will be for a period of 3-4 months from the date of your joining. During the internship period you shall be paid INR 10,000 per month.

Responsibilities 

  • Test and deploy Geospatial algorithms and tools 

  • Proactively deliver on outputs assigned to you within predefined timelines. 

  • Be quick and eager to learn new technologies  

  • Derive efficiency through proper planning and prompt communication 

  • Have enough clarity of thought to understand the requirement of a process. 

  • Communicate and work with various team members from different teams. 

  • Work with diverse data information sources simultaneously. 

About you 

You should be able to work in an interdisciplinary environment and to be able to work within strict deadlines. Should be able to clearly understand the tasks assigned to you and be able to execute them accurately with minimal oversight. Should have thorough understanding of all GIS and Remote Sensing basics. You should be willing to learn and be able to quickly assimilate the information provided to you. 

Qualifications 

  • M.Tech./M.Sc. in GIS/ Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics/ Geomatics from national/international reputed educational institution. 

  • Knowledge of using/building statistical models and tools would be an advantage. 

  • Knowledge in the following is mandatorily required: 

  • Experience of software like 

  • ArcGIS  

  • QGIS  

  • Erdas Imagine  

  • Understanding of GeoProcessing, GeoStatistics and GIS data quality checks  

  • Spatial temporal database generation and analysis  

  • Vector cleaning 

  • Knowledge of Remote Sensing 

  • Basics of Landuse Land-Cover 

  • Postgres/sql (Optional) 

  • Working knowledge in Python ( Numpy, Scipy, GeoPanda, ArcPy)   

  • Working Knowledge of R statistical programming would be helpful
