About This Job

We’re looking for a passionate and talented Data Scientist to join our Advanced Analytics Data Science Center of Excellence (COE). In this role, you’ll have the chance to roll up your sleeves and apply data science methods and analytics to sustain NielsenIQ Analytics growth. You will also have the opportunity to build and lead teams as we scale our COE. Successful candidates are intellectually curious builders and active learners who are biased toward action, new problem solving.

 Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team of 4-5 data scientists
  • Understand business issues, stakeholder requirement and expectations
  • Perform and oversee modeling analysis and Proof-of-Concept (POC) exploring multiple techniques
  • Ensure Analytics model quality
  • Document and present findings and recommendations on methodology in a structured way to stakeholder and partnering teams (Engineering, Tech, Product leader).
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Tech team to convert relevant POCs into fully scalable products.
  • Active and effective collaboration with other project team members (other Data Scientist, Data Steward, Technology Engineer)
  • Collaboratively manage projects from timeline creation to project completion, managing expectations with leaders and colleagues
  • Encourage team building, best practices sharing especially with more junior team members.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the area to ensure bringing the most appropriate solutions to our business

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or a closely related field. Masters is a minimum requirement. PhD is preferable
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in the industry
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistics and predictive modeling
  • Experience in machine learning, supervised and unsupervised: Forecasting, Classification, Data/Text Mining, NLP, Decision Trees, Adaptive Decision Algorithms, Random Forest, Search Algorithms, Neural Networks, Deep Learning Algorithms
  • Experience with Optimization techniques: linear programming, integer programming, genetic algorithm, constrained optimization
  • Proficiency in Data Science coding languages like Python, R and Scala
  • Strong SQL skills required. Ability to analyze large volumes of data is essential
  • Experience building models in distributed or cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure using PySpark is a plus
  • Experience using collaborative development tools (git)
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum)
  • Strong problem solving and excellent communication skills, independent working style
  • Experience in an FMCG/Retail company with exposure to Pricing, Promotion and Assortment Analytics is a strong plus
  • Experience managing/coordinating a team is a plus.
