Job Description

Pre-Sales Consultants facilitate all non-standard client opportunities in parallel with the NielsenIQ Brandbank global Client teams and directly with clients. You will be working with the customer from the start of engagement through to deal closure, subsequently handing over to the Client Delivery or Project Management teams to deliver.  You will also be expected to deliver small-scale projects yourself. 

This requires a balance of commercial awareness (in particular the ability to consult with customer organisations and interpret their business requirements) with technical competence (particularly in terms of being able to liaise with client technical teams in the area of data/database integration).

The Pre-Sales Consultant role is an exciting and challenging client-facing role that works cross-functionally with all facets of the organisation including Commercial, IT, Client Integration and Operational divisions of our business. 

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, confident, highly organised individual, self-managed and comfortable with multi-tasking but focused on delivering to agreed deadlines. They need a ‘can do’ client-centric attitude, a willingness to immerse themselves into the organisation’s business methods. Building rapport with key stakeholders is essential, so you should be comfortable working across all business functions and interacting with clients to ensure we deliver clients focused solutions that are fit for purpose, commercially viable and deliver value. 

The role encompasses a variety of tasks including (but not limited to) pre-sales support, requirements gathering, client presentations and project co-ordination which will involve working within clients’ organisations. 

Key responsibilities:

As part of the Business Development function, support all client teams in communicating our service to customers, gathering and interpreting customer requirements and liaising with our internal Client Integration, IT Development, and Operations functions to design end-to-end solutions to meet these needs. 

To act as the primary subject matter expert for Commercial teams as well as clients and act as a liaison. 

Responsible for pre-sales scoping through to deployment including: 

  • Requirements capture and documentation. 
  • Co-ordination of service feasibility assessment with relevant internal departments. 
  • Costing. 
  • Resource planning and management. 
  • Customer stakeholder engagement/management. 
  • Assessment of commercial opportunity with the Business Dev / Commercial /Sales teams. 
  • Input on opportunity assessment of the potential impact on business for internal Executive Team review process. 

Involvement in defining and deploying pilot/proof of concept activities in order to assist sales in closing deals.

Be involved in authoring responses to RFP / RFI proposal requirements and submissions for projects to ensure excellence and consistency across our service delivery strategy. 

Act as a product/service ‘genius’ to commercial sales associates with the ability to ‘translate’ service technicalities into commercially orientated features and benefits. 

Develop a broad understanding of a client's internal processes and balance this with a clear understanding of our own product and service development plans and roadmap and an awareness of emerging technologies, to determine what is and is not possible for us to deliver. 

Consult and deliver analytical reports as part of Professional Service delivery to our clients.

Work closely with the Data Science team to scope and deliver bespoke analytics for clients 

Qualifications

  • Understanding of digital product content and/or on-line retail industry in the FMCG sector preferable. 
  • Level of technical understanding and the ability to approach tasks in a logical manner 
  • An understanding of (product) data and its application within the industry. 
  • Ability to quickly grasp a clear understanding of a client’s needs and translate them to a set of requirements and well-planned solution deliverables. 
  • Ability to understand & dive into the detail of a solution e.g. API integration
  • Commercially astute and confident within customer-facing situations – comfortable with giving presentations, hosting conference calls and conducting software/solutions demonstrations and training.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills including running workshops, building customer rapport. 
  • Experience of Product Information Management (PIM) systems and Master Data Management (MDM) systems preferred. 
  • Experience within a pre-sales or professional services role working in a digital environment or similar is preferred.

Additional Information

You will be expected to travel internationally (when we are able to do so), sometimes at relatively short notice.
