Job Description
Purpose:

Role Summary:
This role requires very strong and senior quantitative Market Research and Business Development experience. The Senior Research Manager will manage a Quantitative Consumer Insights teams to set strategy and execution plan to grow NielsenIQ’s Consumer Insights business in South Africa, as well as support growth in Nigeria, with support from the Consumer Insights Director. The successful candidate will enforce positive engagement with current clients by understanding their business needs and propose solutions to answer those needs. Additionally, the Senior Research Manager should seek opportunities that help our clients to reduce risk in decision making, in order to optimize their brand and total customer experience.
This specific role focuses on clients that are non-FMCG, such as Telco, Tech, Finance, Auto and Public Sector.
Responsibilities:
Applies an understanding and knowledge of consumer, market, and industry trends to work activities
Drive business development opportunities through current and potential new clients.
Ensure local business strategies are implemented according to regional / sub-regional directions in order to meet the financial and business objectives i.e. revenue targets, profitability etc.
Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance departments to finalize contract approvals in compliance with company's policies and guidelines
Keep abreast of financial targets and implement strategies to reach targets, with the support of the Associate Director
Provide product solutions and benefits to client business issues / opportunities by developing strategic initiatives for each client.
Oversee the management and conduct research projects including preparation, approval and delivery of proposals, reports and presentations.
Foster relationships at all levels and functions of the client organization to identify opportunities for incremental product / solution sales.
Supports individual and team performance through strong team orientation, coaching and feedback
Provide coaching to Quantitative research associates from the Nigeria team, to enable a high quality delivery of proposals and research studies.
Qualifications:
BA / BS in relevant business field (MBA desirable)
Over 6 years’ experience in Quantitative research, preferably in Research discipline, Marketing, or sales functions with track record achievement of revenue KPIs
Expert knowledge of research techniques and methodologies
Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and presentation skills
Strong business acumen skills
Previous exposure with non-FMCG clients is highly advantageous
Solid analytical skills
Good influencing and coaching skills with the ability to develop line managers in a matrix structure
Ability to coach, mentor, motivate and manage local and remote teams
Fluent in English
