Under the direction of Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, its unique fellowship program trains music school graduates for leadership roles in the field of classical music. Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Community Engagement Manager collaborates with members of the Musician Advancement Team on the logistical planning and execution of NWS’s Community Engagement (CE) and Fellowship activities.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with Director of Community and Equity Impact, supports the planning and execution of events (Side-by-Side, Education Concerts, Concerts for Kids, International Fellowship Exchange Programs, Mobile Wall, and rehearsal observations) in the community and at New World Center:  
    • Assists with logistics, staffing, and technical requests need
    • Assists with room setup request needs  
    • Organizes catering as needed  
    • Participates in coaching and development of Fellows’ skills 
    • Accompanies Fellows to events  
    • Documents attendance
    • Captures photos of Fellows at events 
    • Assists with assessment design and implementation 
    • Coordinates recording and reporting of statistical data 
  • In consultation with the Director of Community and Equity Impact, manages the:  
    • MusicLab In-School Teaching Program 
      • Communicates with participating MusicLab schools and programs and develops and implements an engagement plan of educational interactions between partner schools and NWS Fellows  
      • Accompanies or develops staffing plan for Fellows’ school visits  
      • Develops and sustains relationships with teachers and administration at participating schools 
      • Produces MusicLab Finale Concert by organizing the program and run of show and by securing Fellows to participate post-season
    • Iberacademy/Medellín Exchange Program 
      • Serves as the main point of contact between Iberacademy and NWS 
      • Maintains relationship and shared goals with partner leadership and staff   
      • Organizes itineraries, travel, per diem, housing, and hospitality for visitors and Fellows   
      • Keeps records of partnership activities for reporting and fundraising purposes 
  • Prepares Visiting Faculty for CE programs, including: 
    • Organizes workshop or meeting logistics 
    • Surveys or debriefs with Fellows and Visiting Faculty on the impact of the training 
    • Assists in managing Fellow attendance records 
  • Assists in creating the Community Engagement program calendar with Director of Community and Equity Impact including ArtsVision entries, Weekly schedule, and Program Activities Calendar entries and updates 
  • Assists with tracking and forecasting budget for MusicLab and other related CE programs; processes payables 
  • Keeps the storage closet clean and the supplies in order  
  • As a member of the Musician Advancement Department:  
    • Coordinates sign-ups, assignments, and feedback forms for CE events  
    • Provides calendar invitations and logistical details to assigned Fellows for events  
    • Tags participating Fellows in ArtsVision transcript records 
    • Assists with staffing in-person events and Fellows’ orientation   
    • Assists with catering/logistics for the Fellows and room setup request needs  
    • Shares in administrative responsibilities of facilitating weekly department meetings and organizing departmental storage and filing systems (occurs on a rotating basis for all MA team)  
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one to three years of experience in an administrative role; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES   

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Ability to interact positively and sensitively with a wide variety of personalities in various settings  
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail  
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlines  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with ArtsVision is desired  
  • Knowledge of classical music 
  • Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion 
  • Passion for the mission of the New World Symphony 
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is desired  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   

  • Ability to work in person at the New World Center and throughout South Florida from September through May  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
