This success is no accident, our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams have the constant support of a Specialist Claims Skills and Development Manager ensuring they are fully prepared and skilled at their roles. Due to an internal promotion, we are now looking for someone to take the reins and really push the department to be the best they can be and continue to showcase the fantastic work we do.


A day in the life of a Specialist Claims Skills and Development Manager at NewLaw will involve:

  • Developing technical skills and knowledge of Personal Injury lawyers in the Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams, acting at all times in the best interest of the firm.
  • Ensuring the profile of Specialist Claims is raised internally and externally.
  • Ensuring the standard and capability of file handlers is of an appropriate standard to challenge competitors within the serious injury and clinical negligence field.
  • Setting training programmes to ensure that all Specialist Claims handlers have effective skills to undertake their roles.
  • Developing team members as specialist in all areas of technical expertise within the respective field.
  • Ensuring the team members apply external accreditation where appropriate for their specialist skills.
  • Ensuring the firm maintains its APIL accredited status via relevant membership criteria.

To be a successful Specialist Claims Skills and Development Manager within NewLaw, you would need:

  • To be a Grade A Solicitor or Legal Executive with 8+ years PQE with experience in Clinical Negligence and/or Personal Injury claims.
  • To hold a current Practicing Certificate.
  • Ideally, you would hold a recognised qualification in mentoring and coaching, although this is not a detractor for the right candidate.
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of specialist injury claims
