New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 56 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves 14 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $110M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 300 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description

Be a leader in the development and implementation of strategies to increase the lifesaving and life enhancing gifts of organ and tissue donation for all of New England. The Donation Strategy Manager will develop effective relationships with our clinical partners, donor families, the communities we serve, and assume the day-to-day responsibilities and oversight of the donation strategy team. 

Develop a culture of Continuous Quality Improvement to provide leadership in areas of:

  • Identifying goals, initiatives, standards of practice for the Hospital Donation Strategist (HDS) role
  • Create protocols for communication of standard messaging and an optimal donation process
  • Develop ongoing brand repositioning and/or marketing strategies based on identified needs and strategic direction
  • Monitor hospital development process performance and metrics to identify successes and opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrate ability to lead, organize and manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities and utilize time-management skills to meet deadlines

In addition: 

  • Build a "team culture" within the HDS group. Supervise and manage the performance of approximately 15 HDSs.
  • Participate in development and delivery of onboarding and on-going training

Qualifications

Must have the ability to analyze and interpret information within a patient medical record. May be tasked with documenting a chart review on a referral made to NEDS. Will provide on-site response (throughout New England) to referrals and cases as needed. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years leadership experience in an OPO or other related clinical setting preferred
  • Ability to perform roles of Hospital Relationship Coordinator
  • Registered Nurse and/or experience in a healthcare setting preferred

NEDS works throughout New England, and is headquartered in Waltham, MA. This position does not need to report into Waltham daily, however, will be required to be in Waltham for regularly scheduled meetings.
