Job Description

Manages day-to-day responsibilities of the tissue recovery department, including the supervision of the Tissue Recovery Specialists (TRSs). Provides mentorship regarding the surgical recovery of tissue, in partnership with our transplant partners, funeral homes and medical examiners. Develops service standards, monitors training plans, and provides performance feedback.

Supervises and provides support to the TRSs, including but not limited to, monthly coach meetings, onboarding/orientation, training, professional development and performance coaching.

Assures that continuous performance feedback is provided to all Tissue Recovery staff in accordance with NEDS policy.

Ensures optimal staffing for call schedule and acts in the role of case set-up.

Participates in the recovery call schedule as directed by the Director, Tissue Recovery or his/her designee.

Participates in an Administrative On-Call rotation, as needed.

Ensures that all SOP’s and applicable standards, policies and regulations are communicated, trained and practiced by the TRSs; manages SOPs in QPulse/Master Control.

Partners with Human Resources to address all employee relations issues in accordance with NEDS policy, procedure and practice.

Uses conflict resolution and negotiation skills to resolve issues that arise both within and with other departments.

Leads organized and focused quality improvement teams.

Conducts internal department auditing.

Proficient in approximately 80% of TRS Level 4 criteria.

Prepares and conducts presentations within the organization, at local learning sessions and at national meetings.

Resolves obscure problems that arise during cases and functions as a resource to other cases; escalates issues to senior management or designee as appropriate.

Sets the agenda for scheduled department meetings and attends regularly scheduled organizational meetings.

May perform other activities or special projects as assigned by the Director of Tissue Recovery Services

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

Ability to lead a team in a positive manner.

Ability to perform all technical functions at or above established performance standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Level II TRS Team Leader or Minimum of 3 years Tissue Banking experience with mastery of all Level I, II criteria.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Tissue Bank Specialist certification or Certified Eye Banking Technician required within 18 months of hire.
