Job Description

New England Donor Services (NEDS) is looking to add to our exciting, professional and dynamic team whose mission is to save and enhance lives!

As a FAMILY SERVICES COORDINATOR you will provide support and guidance to family members of trauma patients and discuss the opportunity for organ and tissue donation at the appropriate time. This individual will work in close collaboration with hospital and other NEDS staff to determine the best time to discuss the opportunity for donation with families and work with them to obtain consent for donation. The Family Services Coordinator will continue to provide support to families throughout the donation process. You will also work within hospitals to increase physician and other hospital personnel openness and responsiveness to potential organ and tissue donation cases by developing effective relationships with key physicians and other personnel.


Schedule

The schedule for this position is 12 on-call shifts per month. Shifts begin at 0600 and end at 2400 (18 hour shifts). Some weekends and holidays required. Will be required to travel a significant amount throughout New England. Mileage and other reimbursements available.

Qualifications

•An ability to work compassionately and professionally with families in crisis, and to advocate for donation and transplantation.

•Experience in crisis intervention, assessment and counseling strongly preferred.

•An ability to develop effective professional relationships through superior communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to quickly understand the culture of an organization and work effectively within it.

•Ability to multi-task and work independently.

•Background in mental health, bereavement counseling or social work and previous hospital experience preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work, health sciences or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

•Must have a valid state drivers' license
