We are seeking an Associate Director of Transportation & Facilities who will provide oversight and direction to the very busy transportation and facilities functions including fleet management, transportation logistics, staffing/scheduling, vendor and contract management, grounds, maintenance and repair and renovation. Ensures effective programs and processes are in place to support our 24/7 operation. This position will directly report to the Sr. VP of Human Resources & Administration. 

The first major project for this position will include a full analysis of our current transportation and facilities operations to identify operational needs and potential solutions, focused on achieving efficiency. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves with the current Facilities Manager to ensure organization-wide compliance with facilities standard operating procedures and best practices. 

The Space: Our current headquarters of 40,000 sq. ft. is comprised of many offices, meeting rooms, a 24-hour call center and operating rooms/recovery suites and a central processing area. We also have several separately-managed satellite offices that may require limited on-going maintenance. 

Schedule: Position requires flexibility. Generally M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm + some after-hours emergency call.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of principles and methods for transportation and logistics - moving people or products - including the relative costs and benefits.

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for maintaining a set of  24/7 mixed use facilities that includes critical operational systems, offices, conference rooms and industry specific clinical spaces.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of relevant technology and software solutions to meet the needs of the organization.  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge of fundamental project management processes, methodologies and tools & techniques and ability to adapt them to the organization.

  • Ability to translate organization vision into a project vision.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues and identify potential solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with contractors and others to maintain both facilities and transportation functions.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents including building and grounds plans, electrical plans and instructions for the assembly and use of tools and equipment.

  • Effective written and oral communication to convey information in a manner that is appropriate for the audience.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to staff, guests and the public.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once, establish work priorities, and manage time in order to meet the needs of the organization.

Education and Experience

Bachelors' in engineering, construction management, facilities operations, etc. or equivalent experience. 

7 to 10 years of facilities and transportation/logistics management.

5 to 7 years’ experience managing teams or working as a Facilities Manager / Transportation Manager

Must have valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Experience in a healthcare environment highly desirable.

Eligible for TSA certification.
