Job Description

New England Donor Services wants you to join an exciting, dynamic, professional team whose mission it is to save and enhance lives.

 As a TISSUE SCREENING SPECIALIST, you will be a part of our tissue operations team and handle all incoming referral calls, clinically evaluate potential tissue donors by collaborating with hospital staff and clinical partners. You will also be responsible for reviewing medical information to determine donor suitability, obtain informed consent for tissue donation and coordinate the logistics of tissue recovery with a primary focus on extending lives through tissue donation. At the end of each day you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to life saving and life enhancing initiatives.

Schedule

This is a full-time position at 36 hours per week. 3 shifts per week (12 hour shifts) + 1 on-call shift every other week (12 hour on-call shift). Expect to work overnights, holidays and every other weekend. Standard shifts are 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am. Other shifts include but are not limited to 10am to 10pm and 12pm to 12am. The schedule is subject to change at any time.  


Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience; or, strong consideration will be given to candidates who have an Associate’s degree, certification or license and 3+ years of relevant experience in medical field, health sciences, mental health or counseling with expertise in crisis intervention and/or grief counseling

•Working knowledge of medical terminology is a must

•Excellent telephone communication skills

•Ability to communicate with potential donor families in crisis in a sensitive and professional manner

•Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail

•Must be flexible and proactive

•Must have a positive attitude
