Job Description

A day in the life of a Problem Manager for Large European Institutions Projects

As a Problem Manager for Large European Institutions Projects, you will be part of highly skilled agile teams that design, develop, deploy, customize, and support break-through applications for EU institutions. 

Your main duties will be to:

1.    Problem Identification:

  • Proactively identify and categorize problems and incidents to prevent recurring issues.
  • Collaborate with incident manager to escalate and prioritize problems appropriately.

2.    Root Cause Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis of problems to determine their underlying causes.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to investigate and diagnose complex technical issues.

3.    Problem Resolution:

  • Develop and implement effective solutions and workarounds to resolve problems promptly.
  • Ensure that incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner to minimize service disruptions.

4.    Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of problem management activities, including problem records, resolutions, and lessons learned.
  • Generate regular reports on problem management performance and key metrics.

5.    Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the IT organization.

6.    Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with various IT teams, including service desk, change management, and technical support, to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on problem status and resolutions.
     

Qualifications

If you have

•    Bachelor’s degree in information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
•    At least 2 years of proven experience as a Problem Manager or in a similar role in IT.
•    Very good oral and written communication skills in English and French.
•    Strong knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework.
•    Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
•    Knowledge of IT service management tools and software.
•    ITIL certification is a plus.

It would be nice if you had

  • General knowledge of EU institutions.
  • Experience with European Commission is an asset.
  • Knowledge of other EU languages is a plus, especially French.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • PRINCE2 Foundation/PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • Certified in PM2.
