Position Purpose: The APU Process Engineer position is responsible for maximizing effectiveness by proactively identifying ways to increase productivity, and efficiency, and manage human capital in a hi-speed assembly manufacturing environment.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops competencies of the production unit through internal and external training and development as needed 
  • Define and update standard operating procedures (SOP) for production employees 
  • Assess and trains setters technicians and operators
  • Reports outcomes to the APU Shift leader 
  • Support APU Shift leader and managers in analyzing shop floor issues and point of escalation  
  • Propose technical solutions to improve production processes and identifies opportunities to reduce cost, lead-time, and inventory  
  • Analyze equipment’s performance indicators, define and facilitate corrective actions implementation (e.g.: CAPA) 
  • Know, apply, and facilitate implementation of rules defined as part of Continuous Improvement of the plant and its team (5S, TPM, SMED, VSM, etc) 
  • Facilitate workgroups linked to continuous improvement and propose action plans 
  • Accountable of APU equipment’s improvement; documents and communicates proactively improvements in and OEE.
  • Contact person for standard audits 
  • Is the production voice in industrialization projects (NPI phase 5-6: FAT, design review, specs review, ramp-up phase) 
  • Attend project review and transfer knowledge of new assets 
  • Contribute to new equipment development, reception, and validation in production 
  • SME on APU processes and shares best practices through the organization 
  • Follows all safety procedures, including the use of PPE as required 
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis as a SME by identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues affecting manufacturing processes. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure efficient operations and continuous improvement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
  • 1 + years of experience,  preffered experience in medical device manufacturing or similar industry
  • Strong math, reading, and communication skills required
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, and stand/walk up to 90% of shift 
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, grab and climb as needed 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • PLC knowledge (Studio 5000)
  • Vision System
  • SAP experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with advanced problem solving
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-task environment with minimal supervision

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • ISO 8 Clean Room production, warehouse and general office environment with moderate noise levels and travel to and from machines, office and/or clean rooms 
  • Occasional travel between campus buildings by car or foot
