Neighborhood Health is northern Virginia’s first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), providing high quality primary care, dental care, behavioral health, and enabling services to over 20,000 patients across nine clinical sites in the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, and Arlington Count

The Psychiatrist will serve in a supervisory and clinical consultation role as a resource for Neighborhood Health psychiatric nurse practitioner (PNP) who provides direct management of patients with behavioral health conditions. Primary responsibility for the psychiatrist will be to provide 1:1 case consultation with the PNP on a regular schedule. Additionally he or she may be asked to provide direct evaluation and assessment of complex patients and provide recommendations to the PNP, who will then take over ongoing treatment.

The Psychiatrist may also be asked to conduct in-service training for Neighborhood Health behavioral health and primary care providers on topics relevant to mental health management in the primary care setting.

• Board Certified in Psychiatry with experience in the diagnosis and treatment of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of serious mental illness
• Licensed in Virginia
• Supervisory/teaching experience desired
• Provide clinical supervision/case consultation to Neighborhood Health psychiatric nurse practitioner (both in person and by telephone)
• Provide in-service training to clinical and mental health providers
• Experience with geriatric psychiatry a plus
• At least three years’ prior experience, preferably working with an under-served population.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse work force and client base. 
• Experience with information technology, electronic health records, medical records, culturally diverse populations and care of under-served populations.
