Position Overview:

The Learning Resource Teacher and Case Management Administrator is responsible for providing remedial learning support to Near North Montessori (NNM) students as assigned at the Primary, Elementary and Junior High levels in the areas of math, reading and writing and has an active role in fostering the development of the students intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Case Management Administrator is responsible for helping the Director of Learning Support Services with ensuring that the IEP process runs smoothly.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group and/or individual instruction to students at all grade levels in reading, writing, math or other identified areas consistent with the school's MTSS process; collaborating with other faculty as appropriate
  • Build students' reading and writing skills to enhance phonemic awareness, reading fluency, vocabulary and general comprehension through the use of documented interventions and support
  • Build students' math and computation skills through the use of documented interventions and support
  • Administer benchmark assessments throughout the year to understand and monitor student progress
  • Keep accurate records of sessions with students, documenting targeted interventions and their results
  • Participate and provide input in scheduled meetings, conferences and discussions with classroom teachers, instructional coaches and other learning specialists to review and communicate student progress and concerns
  • Proactively communicate with parents via monthly progress notes, in coordination with teachers and instructional coaches, providing updates and messages regarding students
  • Prepare and maintain an environment that inspires learning, exploration, observation and discovery
  • Order supplies and other classroom material through established school processes to support student learning
  • Assist in supervising students at lunch and recess periods, carpool, and other times dependent on teacher absences and staffing needs
  • Support the case management process via paperwork, scheduling, meetings, and an understanding of legal compliance. 
  • Attend assigned class trips, including but not limited to a year end, week-long camp trip for the 6-9 level 
  • Acquire professional training in the educational field by attending educational conferences, training workshops and other related activities
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2 years experience working with Elementary and Junior High-level students in an educational or related setting, special education and Montessori experience strongly preferred
  • The following active certifications or willingness to be trained: 
  • Orton-Gillingham Reading Training
  • Wilson Language Training
  • Multisensory math instruction training (TouchMath, etc.)
  • Other related trainings and certifications
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with children and adults
  • Advanced understanding of a child's physical, social, emotional development
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level of support and assistance with measurable results; including a proficiency in working with current educational technologies and techniques
  • Commitment to collaborating with a larger team of like-minded professionals
  • Experience with the IEP process and an understanding of CPS support services
  • Proficiency in Google Drive 

Additional Information

Pay Information: The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $73,000 annually based on skills and experience
